The spa
No music. No upselling.
Two treatment rooms, a wood-fired hot tub facing the top field, and a standing rule that nobody is asked at the end whether they would like to purchase the oil. Treatments are for residents and for a small number of day guests.
Valley Ritual
110 min
Full-body massage with oil pressed from the estate's own lavender, followed by an hour you are asked to spend doing nothing at all.
£165
Hot Stone
80 min
Basalt from the river, heated and worked along the spine. The one to book if you arrive having driven three hours.
£125
Forest Bathing
120 min
Guided, slow, and considerably less silly than it sounds. Ends with tea in the hide above the top field.
£95
Facial, Botanical
60 min
Cold-pressed and unscented, for skin that has spent the winter indoors.
£110
Included for residents
The hot tub is lit every afternoon at four and it is free.
Booking
Book when you reserve the room. Two treatment rooms means a Saturday fills a fortnight out.
Day guests
Four slots a day, Tuesday to Thursday. Includes use of the hot tub and lunch in the snug.
Ages
No children under twelve in the spa, and under-sixteens only with an adult present.
Cancellation
Twenty-four hours. After that we charge half, because the therapist has already travelled.
